Goodbye February!!!!

We are still dinosaur crazy in our classroom and we have been learning lots of interesting facts about them. We think these facts are true, but no one really knows for sure because no humans were alive when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Scientists can tell a lot from the fossils they uncover, but paleontologists can only guess at the true colour of dinosaurs.
Look for our March newsletter on line now on the school website and look for it in the note totes coming home on Monday.

Brrrrrr!!!!!!!!

"

Would it be overstating the obvious to say, "Wow it's cold out there!". Just think a warm-up on Saturday, to a balmy -2. Needless to say we've had many indoor recesses this week. Which means we don't get a chance to burn off lots of energy, but we must say our little ones are handling it very well.
We celebrated Shrove or Fat Tuesday, on Tuesday of course, by making pancakes with our Grade 4 friends. First we went to the gym to play games and then after working up an appetite we made pancakes in the Early Years room. Thanks, Mr. Palumbo and Grade Four.
We've started a Dinosaur Inquiry, hopefully we will learn lots of interesting facts about dinosaurs and we're already doing lots of great activities. We are creating a dinosaur habitat, researching dinosaur books and websites and playing with dinosaurs at the sensory table.
On Friday afternoon we will celebrate Winter Carnival with the whole school doing lots of fun activities.

Happy Valentine's Day

What a busy week we've had this week. We held our Kindergarten open house Wednesday night and we are so excited to be welcoming many new friends next year into our Early Years program. We had a very exciting Valentine's Day with many, many treats to share with our friends. We also did lots of reading, writing, playing, sharing and creating. With each week that passes we get a little bit closer to spring and a break in the weather.

February Arrived in Fine Fashion!

Well, we were very anxious for February to arrive and it sure came in with a flurry! We hope everyone had fun at home in the snow on Monday. Which just happened to be Groundhog's Day and we were all correct with our predictions about an early Spring or 6 more weeks of winter, depending on which groundhog you followed.
Next Friday we will celebrate Valentine's Day. Your child can bring in cards or treats for our 37 friends. To make handing them out simple, please just address each card to friend and your child can sign their name. The children are also asked to wear red and white on Friday.
Next Wednesday night is Kindergarten registration for our new students entering school next year, so we'll see you then if you have a new little one coming to school or tell your friends if they have school age children next year.
The boys and girls had a great time this week with a new activity, a Valentine's word search, ask them about it. We also had fun making Valentine's soup at the water centre. We are discussing how to be a good friend this month!
Thank you Mrs. Charron for bringing in a mystery object this week. The students were able to sketch it, describe it and guess what it was. Yeah, for Dexter, who guessed correctly, Sugarcane! After a few days of mystery, we googled it, and learned all about the sweet treat. And yes, of course we tasted it!
